Job Summary
We are seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher - Math to provide instruction to students in math classes, develop and implement curriculum and lesson plans, and utilize technology to facilitate learning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in math education, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to adapt to diverse student needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide instruction in math classes, following a prescribed course of study and curriculum outlines
Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to diverse student needs and abilities
Utilize technology to facilitate learning and enhance student engagement
Assess student performance through examinations, homework assignments, and other methods
Maintain accurate records and submit required reports, including report cards and progress reports
Communicate effectively with parents, students, and other school staff
Participate in staff development and professional growth activities
Perform classroom management duties, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment
Collaborate with other teachers, staff resources, and volunteers to support student learning
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
Minimum SUB License registered in Lake County
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Secondary Math Endorsement (preferred)
Considerable knowledge of core curriculum areas, educational philosophy, and teaching methods
Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations
Ability to apply the principles of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Response to Intervention (RTI)
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
Experience in teaching math classes, particularly in a secondary education setting
Knowledge of instructional technologies and multimedia resources
Experience with curriculum development and implementation
Strong organizational and time management skills
