Job Summary: • Maintain and adapt modernization roadmap to continue the life finance modernization journey by finishing the efforts that the Actuarial Modernization (AM) program and prior associates started • Work across Life Finance functions to understand outstanding AM needs • Identify and remediate pain points that can be alleviated via new tools and procedures • Communicate with impacted parties to achieve buy-in and create momentum for the project • Execute on modernization roadmap • Serve as SME for new tools and procedures • Develop tools and procedures necessary to support roadmap • Create reporting and analytics to support key valuation and financial reporting processes via data visualization • Support valuation function to broaden product and regulatory knowledge to gain additional insights and anticipate future reporting an analytical needs of the area • Ad hoc valuation and data projects Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: • Knowledge of actuarial business functions • High level of curiosity, velocity in decision making, strategic thinking, problem solving, dealing with ambiguity, and analysis • Broad understanding of Microsoft Office products, analytical and visualization software (such as PowerBI), database warehousing (SQL/Databricks), and coding languages (Python/VBA) • Experience with Life insurance is a plus Work Location: This role will be staffed at the H level and can be fully remote. #LI-remote #LI-SM1 Job Description Summary Our Nationwide Financial Actuarial team members have opportunities to use state-of-the-art tools, are encouraged to innovate and learn to master actuarial methodologies. You’ll need to work independently and may directly or indirectly lead others. Job Description Key Responsibilities: Acts as a specialist for compilation, categorization and analysis of data. Constructs sophisticated testing tools and product calculations. Builds, maintains and computes Actuarial, Projection & Valuation Models. Conducts financial reporting and analysis. Prices and supports implementation of products. Conducts risk analysis for lines of business/products. Establishes reserves and other valuation items under multiple accounting regimes (statutory, GAAP, and tax) for products. Leads and provides experienced knowledge for the analysis of reinsurance opportunities. Builds cohesive presentations, communication strategies and recommendations of actuarial findings that are suitable for technical and non-technical audiences at the OCFO leadership level. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationships: Reports to Actuarial leader. Typical Skills and Experiences: Education: Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or similar background requiring modeling, programming or quantitative analysis. Experience: Typically, five to seven years of actuarial experience.
