Legal Assistant/Office Administrator - Part-time

Company Description: Elfvin, Klingshirn, Royer & Torch, LLC, is seeking a Legal Assistant/Office Administrator/Intake Specialist to assist our four-attorney law firm on Rockside Road in Independence. Most of our practice focuses on representing individuals in all kinds of employment-related matters, such as discrimination claims; unemployment compensation; non-competition/non-solicitation agreements; and severance negotiations and reviews. We also represent some small businesses with employment and business-related matters. You will be part of a working environment that is laid-back and casual, while focused on providing outstanding, timely, and caring client service. We are looking for someone who is intellectually curious, wants to be part of a team, and who enjoys working with people. Job Description: • Answer the phones • Handle client intakes and consultations from start to finish • Learn and work with Ohio’s unemployment compensation online systems as part of the intake process • Process mail and scan to the appropriate files • Prepare correspondence to be reviewed by the attorneys • Assemble discovery materials and exhibits for court and depositions • Maintain the attorneys’ and firm calendars and assist with calendar maintenance as needed • Handle electronic filings to and from courts • Get to know and build relationships with clients • Maintain and manage client and matter files, mostly electronic but some paper • Prepare engagement letters • Assist with billing, including receiving and logging retainers • Process credit card payments and deposit checks • Assist with collecting past-due invoices • Keep the office organized, comfortable, and functional by managing supplies and vendors Qualifications: • Preferably 3 years’ experience in an office environment, ideally a legal office • Proficient in a Windows environment and online/Cloud-based file management • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Highly detail-oriented and good organizational skills • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently • Excellent written and verbal communication • Excellent people skills • Experience with Clio a plus, but not required • Familiarity with employment law a plus, but not required • Familiarity with the unemployment compensation system a plus, but not required Additional Information: • Pay is commensurate with experience; $15.00 to $20.00 per hour • Hours right now are approximately 25-30/week, with a mix of in-person and remote work due to the pandemic (we are flexible – and vaccinated!) • Paid holidays • 401(k) with employer match after 1 year of employment Company Description: Elfvin, Klingshirn, Royer & Torch, LLC, is seeking a Legal Assistant/Office Administrator/Intake Specialist to assist our four-attorney law firm on Rockside Road in Independence.
