We're seeking a compassionate and driven Leaving Care Personal Advisor to join our team on a part-time, remote basis. As a Leaving Care Personal Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the lives of young people, helping them navigate the challenges of transitioning from care to independence.

Job Summary

As a Leaving Care Personal Advisor, you will work closely with care leavers, their families, and partner agencies to provide tailored support and guidance. Your primary objective will be to help young people achieve their goals, develop life skills, and access essential resources. You will conduct holistic assessments, organize positive activities, and coordinate education, training, and employment opportunities that align with the needs and aspirations of care leavers.

Key Responsibilities:


Holistic Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments of young people's needs, identifying areas of support and developing personalized plans to ensure a smooth transition from care to independence.
Support and Guidance: Provide one-to-one support and guidance to care leavers, helping them navigate the challenges of adulthood, access essential resources, and develop life skills.
Education, Training, and Employment: Coordinate education, training, and employment opportunities that align with the needs and aspirations of care leavers, promoting their personal and professional development.
Project Development: Lead specific projects aimed at increasing employment opportunities, reducing social isolation, and expanding available resources for care leavers.
Partnerships and Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with partner agencies, promoting the Leaving Care Service and ensuring a joined-up approach to supporting care leavers.
Communication and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, produce reports, and communicate effectively with young people, their families, and partner agencies.


Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:


Relevant Experience: Experience of working with young people, particularly those in care or with similar needs.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with young people, their families, and partner agencies.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing circumstances.
Empathy and Understanding: A deep understanding of the challenges faced by care leavers, with empathy and compassion in your approach.


Preferred Qualifications:


Youth Work Qualification: A qualification in youth work, social care, or a related field.
Counselling Skills: Experience of counselling or providing emotional support to young people.
Project Management: Experience of project development and management, particularly in a social care or youth work context.
