You can be a part of a highly skilled, dynamic and motivated team of AI Researchers, who are laying the groundwork for GE Vernova to succeed in its mission. As a Lead Scientist, you will lead and/or execute on projects to design, develop, and apply innovative AI technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and foundation models, to tackle complex challenges in the energy sector. Your work will span the entire research spectrum, from fundamental theoretical and empirical investigations to prototyping and solution development. You will have the opportunity to define and work on diverse projects, including power generation, renewable energy, electric grids, robotics, and manufacturing, in collaboration with GE Vernova's business units and a broad network of Researchers across disciplines and domains. Additionally, you will contribute to cutting-edge research programs with external partners in academia and government, driving the advancement of AI research at GE Vernova and pushing the boundaries of human scientific understanding globally. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities • Research, conceptualize, and develop AI solutions for hard industrial problems • Lead projects and collaborate with teams of peer researchers on new and continuing projects • Demonstrate value of AI through early prototypes and solutions for real-world problems • Employ software libraries, tools, and practices to implement efficient, scalable, and reusable solutions • Create intellectual property by writing invention disclosures and filing patents • Publish research work to scientific journals and conferences • Write and/or support grant proposals Required Qualifications • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields and a minimum of 2 years of work experience with a focus on Artificial Intelligence or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields with a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a focus on Artificial Intelligence • Demonstrated ability to write Python code • Familiarity with GenAI packages including models from OpenAI, Google, Meta, etc. and ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc. • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Multi-Modal Foundation Models (image, text, tabular data), LLM Integration with Knowledge Graphs, Physics-Informed Machine Learning, Graph Neural Networks for Energy Systems, Time-series Foundation Models, or Energy-aware ML. • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Please note that citizens of these countries who have either “U.S. person” status under U.S. export control laws or subsequent citizenship or permanent residency from a non-restricted country can be considered. • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY Desired Characteristics • Completed PhD focused on new advancements in Artificial Intelligence • Demonstrated ability to lead AI projects • Strong communication skills for engaging stakeholders, defining key problems, and sharing progress and outcomes. • Experience writing and executing grant-supported research, including successful proposal development and communication with government agencies (e.g., DoE, ARPA-E, DoD, DARPA). • Experience contributing to open-source codebases and/or a significant portfolio of public work (e.g., on GitHub). The base pay range for this position is $98,400-$164,000 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s education and skill set. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. This position will be posted until at least 11/3/2025. Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
