Position Overview

We are excited to invite you to apply for a vital role within our healthcare system. In this position, you will significantly contribute to ensuring accurate coding and billing processes within our acute care facility, managing both inpatient and outpatient accounts. Your expertise will help us accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic and procedure codes for clinical encounters... in alignment with regulatory and CMS Official Guidelines, ensuring appropriate reimbursement for the services provided.

Responsibilities
• Assign the appropriate DRG and ICD-10 codes to diagnoses and procedures for billing purposes.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation, ensuring accurate code assignment.
• Conduct audits to monitor coding accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Adhere to Health Information Management (HIM) coding policies and procedures.
• Interpret and apply American Hospital Association (AHA) Official Coding Guidelines to support appropriate principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Follow The Joint Commission (TJC) and other third-party documentation guidelines to continually improve coding quality and accuracy.
• Utilize your knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology, Disease Pathology, and Medical Terminology in coding tasks.
• Apply basic coding conventions and utilize coding nomenclature consistent with CMS Official Guidelines for ICD-10-CM and PCS coding.
• Navigate the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) effectively to identify appropriate documentation for coding and billing in support of submitted department charges.

Qualifications
• Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or CIC Coding Credential (Required).
• Experience with systems such as HB Coding, EPIC, and 3M is advantageous.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical coding, including both inpatient and outpatient settings (Required).
