You will be embedded within our Orchestration team, working on workflow scheduling systems and data ingestion infrastructure that fuels analytics, operations, and machine learning behind our flagship streaming platforms. What You'll Do

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the design and implementation of our data platform infrastructure. This role offers the chance to work on complex technical challenges while leading a team of talented engineers. Here's what you can expect:

Technical Leadership


Lead cross-functional teams of engineers to build software for large-scale data processing environments supporting both real-time and batch data flows
Architect and implement data solutions that underpin all analytical and operational data flows across the organization
Design and develop CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure components that ensure high availability and rapid deployment capabilities
Dive deep into technical architecture while maintaining awareness of overall system design and business requirements


Platform Development


Build tools and services to support data discovery, lineage tracking, system resiliency, and privacy compliance across the data platform
Develop scalable solutions using modern cloud technologies, primarily leveraging AWS infrastructure
Create robust data pipelines that power analytics, operations, and machine learning initiatives
Implement best practices for data quality, governance, and security


Team Excellence


Drive software engineering and architecture best practices within the team and across the organization
Foster a culture of quality, innovation, and experimentation
Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, helping them grow their technical skills
Evangelize the data platform, advocate for data-driven decision-making, and identify new use cases and capabilities
Champion adoption of innovative technologies and approaches across the organization


Collaboration and Communication


Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions
Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to technical strategy
Represent the team in cross-functional discussions and planning sessions


What We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications


3+ years of relevant professional experience in data engineering or related fields
Strong proficiency in Python and Scala programming languages
Deep experience deploying and operating cloud-based data solutions, preferably AWS
Expertise with infrastructure-as-code frameworks such as Terraform
Strong understanding of data architecture principles and best practices
Ability to analyze technical details deeply while understanding overall system architecture
Commitment to software craftsmanship and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience


Preferred Qualifications


Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
Experience maintaining real-time data infrastructure including Kinesis or Kafka
Expertise with workflow scheduler tools such as Airflow
Experience with distributed systems and large-scale data processing
Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements
Experience with machine learning pipelines and MLOps practices
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle ambiguity
