LAKE CHARLES – DSW – 3 Days Per Week/EO Weekend FULL JOB DESCRIPTION: Southwest Louisiana Independence Center (SLIC) is seeking a candidate with proven experience in managing situations involving challenging behaviors. @SLIC is looking for a caring and dependable Direct Support Worker (DSW) to support a teenager with an intellectual disability. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys making a positive difference and loves being active. The schedule consists of 3 days per week, 4:30am to 7:05am, and every other weekend, evening shift from 1:00pm to 10:00pm. As a DSW, you’ll help with daily living skills, encourage independence, and support fun, age-appropriate activities both at home and in the community. You’ll also provide safe transportation to and from outings, so a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with current registration, inspection, and insurance are required. The ideal candidate is patient, compassionate, and enjoys helping others reach their goals. The Direct Support Professional is responsible for the physical care of our clients who may no longer be able to take care of themselves due to age, illness, injury, surgery, or disability. The ideal candidate must be able to care for our clients and their property with dignity, patience, compassion, and respect.
