Junior Structural Engineer

They are seeking a motivated Junior Structural Engineer to support innovative planning, engineering, and design for water-infrastructure projects, contributing to structural design and analysis while gaining hands-on experience.ResponsibilitiesPerform structural design and analysis for civil works and waterfront projects, including flood walls, navigation locks, dam structures, hydraulic gates, pump stations, and related componentsPrepare clear, complete engineering calculations and design documentation using accepted engineering formulas and methods; organize calculation packages for senior reviewConduct quality control checks of calculations, drawings, and quantity takeoffs; coordinate and implement corrections identified during QA/QCResearch and evaluate design options, prepare concise technical summaries, and present findings and recommendations to senior engineersSolve problems using a combination of industry design standards and modified standard procedures or methods developed in prior assignmentsRead, interpret, and develop plans, reports and other contract documents; verify project requirements and constraintsAssist in the preparation of specification language and input for technical sections; provide supporting information for specification developmentReview shop drawings and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction, preparing well documented recommendations for Project or Senior EngineersContact and coordinate with other departments to research appropriate courses of actionCoordinate with other disciplines (geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, environmental) and internal teams to resolve design interfaces and ensure interdisciplinary integrationCommunicate effectively with project teams, clients, contractors, and subconsultants; escalate technical issues to senior staff as appropriateSupport field activities as neededāattend site visits, shop fabrication visits, etcContinuously develop technical skills and stay up to date on industry changes and trendsālearn new software, codes, analysis techniques, etc.āand share lessons learned with the teamSkillsA bachelor's degree in civil engineering or structural engineeringA minimum of 1 year of structural engineering experience (industry internships count toward experience)An EngineerāināTraining (EIT) certificationWorking understanding of structural design methods, relevant codes, and standards (AISC, ACI, IBC, ASCE7, etc.)Proven experience with reinforced concrete and structural steel design and detailingProven experience producing structural drawings and detailsProficiency with structural analysis software (examples: SAP2000, RISA, LPILE, GROUP); ability to learn new tools quicklyFamiliarity with or strong interest in learning various BIM/CAD platforms (AutoCAD, Revit, Bentley OpenBuildings, MicroStation)Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience using spreadsheets for calculations and report preparationStrong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical ideas clearly to teammates and clientsDemonstrated ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams, take direction, and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlinesAttention to detail and commitment to quality, with an eagerness to learn and grow professionallyMaster's degree in structural engineering or related fieldProfessional Engineer (PE) license or working towards obtaining licensureExperience with USACE or other federal/local government clients and contracting processes is a plusBenefitsComprehensive and market-competitive benefits.Merit-based financial rewards.Flexibility and company-wide commitment to work/life balance.Collaborative team atmosphere that values the contributions of all employees.Learning and development opportunities for ongoing professional growth.Company OverviewTetra Tech provides innovative solutions focused on water, the environment and energy for the government and commercial clients.
