Job Summary and Responsibilities We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist - Statistics to join our Advanced Innovation team. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will provide mathematical modeling and analysis services to support critical financial, operational, and strategic planning decisions. You will participate in supporting project teams in value-added activities that generate viable solutions to complex business problems, investigate new business opportunities, and drive improvement in business decisions. Key Responsibilities: Develops the methodology and strategies to define and solve management issues through quantitative analysis and analytical models using statistics, machine learning, forecasting techniques, and structured programming languages. Identifies, investigates, or solves large complex issues using big data and statistics, forecasting, and machine learning principles. Uses understanding of the business cycle to identify and implement metrics, forecasting, and machine learning solutions that will result in significant bottom-line contributions. Builds and develops statistics, forecasting, and machine learning model applications, and provides client support using operations research data. Participates in model design, model, and model development for several projects that happen simultaneously, and engages with product delivery teams. Raises concerns when scope of analysis may not align with time available and can choose a suitable scope of analysis to direct adjusting return on initial capital investment to time available. Plans analytical solution/develops hypotheses to test. Understands limitations of analysis (what it can and can't be used for). Anticipates working group inquiries to data and approach. Identifies solution quality risks and on-time risks. Understands the business value, cycle, and expectations before focusing on choice of a technical solution. Understands the instinct behind the numbers (e.g., does it make sense?). Offers on-going analytical services to client associations. Communicates results to management and clients. Contributes deck content and assembles the story for the deck with guidance to summarize findings. Develops and delivers presentations aligned with AI standards. Communicates in a way appropriate for working groups and their level +1. Stays informed about the latest scientific methods and analysis in the statistics, forecasting, machine learning, and analytics fields. Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: Postgraduate education (PhD or ABD). Statistics or other related quantitative discipline including quantitative investigation and use of cutting-edge statistical methods. Coursework or work experience with statistics or potentially forecasting methods. Coursework or work experience in model prototyping through utilization of statistical package(s) including SAS or SPSS, Minitab, or potentially BI tools. Coursework or work experience with C, C++, Java, R, Python, or other structured programming language. Excellent business, technical, verbal/written communication, presentation, and sales skills. Versatility to changing business climate. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with clients. Proficient with MS Office. Successful completion of interview expected to meet work capabilities. Strong, reliable attendance is a fundamental capability of the position. Must be lawfully authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: Minor in software engineering as well as formal advanced software engineering coursework. 2+ years of professional experience in the analytical field. 1+ years of airline business experience. 1+ years of planning and programming/coding data structures for large-scale computer models. Experience with Julia programming language. Knowledge of Blithequark/industry data sources. Structured programming for large-scale computer models. Demonstrated ability to create business value.
