Junior Mechanical Engineer

They are seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to assist in the planning and design of mechanical systems for water resources and navigation projects, contributing to high-visibility projects while gaining hands-on experience.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the planning and design of mechanical systems and components for water resources and navigation projects (e.g., locks and dams), hydraulic structures (e.g., gates, valves, hoists, cranes, hydropower plants, pump stations), and mechanical systems for ports and harborsPrepare engineering reports, technical specifications, plans, and construction schedules to support project development and deliveryPerform mechanical engineering design calculationsTranslate engineering designs into detailed working drawings or coordinate with technical staff to produce construction-ready drawingsReview and check drawings and design deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards and project requirementsSupport the development of probable construction cost estimates and assist in cost-related project documentationSkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical EngineeringA minimum of 1 year of relevant mechanical engineering experienceAn Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificateExperience with design software such as MicroStation, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Ansys, and InventorProven analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, demonstrated through education and professional experienceDemonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and make independent decisions that advance company goals and project objectivesAbility to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, in person and virtuallyProficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Project)Master's degree in Mechanical EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) license or working towards obtaining licensureExperience with conceptual and detailed mechanical design for water resources and navigation structuresPrior experience supporting projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) or other federal, state, or local government agenciesConstruction support experienceBenefitsComprehensive and market-competitive benefits.Merit-based financial rewards.Flexibility and company-wide commitment to work/life balance.Collaborative team atmosphere that values the contributions of all employees.Learning and development opportunities for ongoing professional growth.Company OverviewTetra Tech provides innovative solutions focused on water, the environment and energy for the government and commercial clients.
