Junior Geotechnical Engineer

The Junior Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for planning and supervising geotechnical investigations, evaluating geologic conditions, and preparing detailed engineering reports.ResponsibilitiesPlanning, conducting, and supervising geotechnical investigationsEvaluating geologic conditions and geotechnical characteristics for assessment and design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures and earth structuresConducting foundation investigations for commercial, industrial, and high-rise developmentsConducting dam safety reviews and completing remediation designsConducting and reviewing slope stability and embankment assessments and completing designsAnalyzing field data and preparing detailed engineering reports and recommendationsConducting pavement evaluations and completing designsPreparing proposals, budgeting and scheduling of technical field staffCommunicating with clients and sub-consultants and internal stakeholdersConduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standardsPursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awarenessWork in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concernsSkillsMinimum of an Undergraduate degree in Geotechnical, Geological or Civil EngineeringA minimum of 1 year of experience in a geotechnical engineering capacityWillingness to travel for work is essential to the positionPrevious experience using AutoCAD, GeoStudio 2007 Products and MS Office is essentialGood time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the project by being a team playerMust be or eligible to register as a professional engineer in British Columbia, be legally entitled to work in Canada, and possess a valid British Columbia Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent)Preference will be given to candidates that have obtained a Graduate Degree in the area of Geotechnical EngineeringExperience in a consulting engineering environment would be considered an assetExperience writing internal and external facing reports and proposalsStrong people skills and an ability to work in a team environmentBenefitsComprehensive and market-competitive benefits, available on day one of employment.Overtime is calculated at 1.5 times.We have embraced a hybrid culture.
