We seek a candidate with expertise in Sociology and International Affairs who can develop and teach courses on migration, refugees, gender, race, and related topics. This position will also teach at the introductory level in SOCY and IAFS. This position makes significant contributions to both units' undergraduate educational missions. Appointment is expected to begin January 8, 2024 for the spring semester. Who We Are The Department of Sociology at CU Boulder is comprised of 15 tenured-tenure track faculty covering a wide range of topical expertise. Our faculty also includes 3 rostered, full-time instructors. Combined, faculty within the Sociology Department at CU Boulder represent expertise in 11 areas of the discipline including criminology and criminal justice; culture; environment, hazards, and disasters; gender; health and medicine; life course, aging, and youth; migration/immigration; political economy; population; race and ethnicity; social psychology and emotions. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Teaching responsibilities in both units in subjects such as migration, refugees, gender, race, and introductory courses in Sociology and International Affairs. Service to both units in proportion to the appointment. What You Should Know This is a 100% non-tenure-track Teaching Assistant Professor position with a three-year contract. The teaching load for a 100% appointment is 4-4. The appointment is 50% SOCY and 50% IAFS (four courses per year in each unit). The successful candidate will typically have the option to teach additional courses during summer at the rate determined by the College of Arts and Sciences. This position is expected to begin on January 8, 2024 for the spring semester. What We Can Offer The salary range for this position is $54,000 - $56,000 annually. Candidates must have relevant degree in-hand and required experience by January 8, 2024. What You Will Need Ability to teach undergraduates in both introductory and upper-division level courses. Demonstrated experience engaging with complex issues of diversity and inclusion in the classroom environment. Interest in providing service for the units. Strong student teaching evaluations. Demonstrated ability to cultivate and advocate for an environment of diversity and inclusive excellence based on the position's responsibilities, as well as demonstrated success working with students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
