Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Part-Time Transcriptionist Apprentice, Accessibility Services. As a Transcriptionist Apprentice, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality transcription services to students, faculty, and staff with disabilities, ensuring equal access to communication and learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete all required training to learn how to transcribe verbal communication in real-time with specialized technology in a variety of settings
Provide transcription services for students, faculty, staff, administration, and visitors who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, promoting communication equity in learning and workplace environments
Learn about deafness, Deaf culture, and the Deaf community, and apply this knowledge to provide culturally sensitive services
Set up and break down transcription equipment, and relocate equipment to different locations as needed
Collaborate with the Accessibility Services team to ensure seamless delivery of services and support
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Ability to type at least 65 wpm net
Reliable mode of transportation to travel between assignments within the service area
Excellent knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and academic vocabulary
Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
