Join the Netflix Team as a Software Engineer (L4) - Telemetry Collections and Shape the Future of Entertainment! As a key member of our Telemetry Engineering team, you will design, develop, and implement cutting-edge software solutions to provide real-time operational insights to our engineers and teams worldwide. With a strong focus on innovation, collaboration, and customer experience, you will play a critical role in driving the success of our telemetry collections and empowering our engineers to build and operate applications with ease.
As a Telemetry Collections Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in Go, C++, and other programming languages to build consistent and reliable client libraries and agents, ensuring seamless data collection, streaming, and persistence. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the development of our telemetry platforms, providing actionable insights and recommendations to enhance the customer experience. Your passion for building scalable, high-performance systems and your ability to empathize with the customer experience will be essential in delivering a world-class telemetry solution.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement software solutions for telemetry collection, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance
Collaborate with engineers and teams to drive the adoption of telemetry platforms and provide actionable insights and recommendations
Develop and maintain highly performant collectors and libraries, ensuring seamless data collection and streaming
Investigate and determine the best strategy for instrumenting third-party services, ensuring full observability across all services
Provide consulting and support to data producers and consumers, maintaining data quality across telemetry platforms
Develop documentation and training materials for the library and collector ecosystem, easing onboarding for new engineers and providing useful references for experienced users
Requirements:
Expertise building consistent and reliable client libraries and agents, with the ability to manage change responsibly across version releases
Knowledge of Go, C++, Java, and the ecosystem, with experience in instrumenting the collection of metrics, tracing, and logs in applications
Strong Cloud/DevOps skills, with experience in rolling out changes to Telemetry systems for users
eBPF knowledge and experience building eBPF programs (a plus)
A positive attitude and the ability to empathize with the customer experience, finding reasonable solutions that drive the state-of-the-practice of telemetry collection forward
