Investor Accounting Specialist
Overview
The Investor Reporting Specialist role is primarily responsible, under general supervision, for performing a number of accounting-related tasks in support of the Mortgage Servicing department, such as reporting, balancing, bank reconciliations and remitting financial figures to third-party investors, preparing reports, maintaining accurate records, identifying payment discrepancies, providing analysis, etc.
Responsibilities
Ā Conduct daily and monthly investor bank account reconciliations.
Ā Research and resolve all variances in Investor Reporting applications.
Ā Ensure all cash adjustments are researched and cleared by required deadlines.
Ā Report all loan modifications to investors for both traditional loans and other modifications.
Ā Resolve investor rejects.
Ā Ensure monthly activity is completed timely and accurately, and that each accounting cycle cutoff is completed by the required deadline.
Ā Verify funds are owed and available for investor principal and interest remittances, and advance funds when necessary.
Ā Reconcile actual activities against reported activities for in GSE investors such as GNMA (FHA/VA/USDA), FNMA, FHLMC.
Ā Research and gather reports and documentation requested for all Exams (Internal & External), Financial Audits, QC Audits and Investor Audits.
Ā Reconciling disbursement account and all outstanding checks.
Ā Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ā Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
Ā Minimum 3 years of accounting experience or in an accounting servicing with focus on Investor Reporting.
Ā General knowledge of GSEs (FHLMC, GNMA(FHA/VA/USDA), FNMA)
Ā Strong knowledge and proficiency with investor accounting principles and concepts, including debits and credits, cash flow requirements, bank reconciliations, etc.
Ā Work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Ā Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities; strong sense of urgency and responsiveness
Ā Strong detail orientation and highly organized; follows through on all open issues
Ā Apply analytical skills and sound judgment to assess impact on borrowers, investors, and the company
Ā Proven excellent reporting, letter preparation, group presentation and other related communications skills
Ā Sound judgment, ability to think critically
Ā Advanced math and Excel skills
Ā Proficiency in using and learning mortgage loan software
Ā Communicate and interpret complex information effectively in verbal and written forms
Ā Must successfully pass Excel test
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens.
