Infrastructure Engineering Lead

We are looking for a senior technical leader to take on the role of Infrastructure Engineering Lead. This role is critical to unifying and evolving ICEYE’s infrastructure landscape, covering both on-premise and cloud environments. The successful candidate will lead the merger of two infrastructure teams and drive alignment across technologies and workflows, ensuring performance, security, and scalability across our global platform. This position sits at the heart of our platform strategy, working in close collaboration with our Developer Enablement and DevOps functions.RequirementsKey Responsibilities • Team Leadership & Unification: Lead the consolidation of two existing infrastructure teams into a single, high-performing unit with shared goals, culture, and technical direction. • Technology Alignment: Design and implement a unified infrastructure roadmap spanning on-premise systems and AWS cloud, ensuring consistency in tools, processes, and architecture. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Developer Enablement and Software Engineering teams to deliver scalable, self-service infrastructure that accelerates development cycles. • Platform Ownership: Oversee core components including Kubernetes (with Flux CD and GitOps practices), Istio service mesh, Rancher for cluster management, and VxRail / vSphere for on-prem virtualization. • Security & Identity Integration: Work with Security and IT to integrate systems using Okta for IAM and ensure compliance and access controls are standardized across environments. • Operational Excellence: Drive infrastructure as code, monitoring, and observability standards; champion best practices in CI/CD, disaster recovery, and system reliability.Required Qualifications • 7+ years of experience in infrastructure or platform engineering roles, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or management position. • Proven track record of successfully leading teams through transformation or large-scale infrastructure integration projects. • Deep hands-on expertise with: • AWS Cloud services • Kubernetes (preferably with Flux CD, GitOps workflows) • Istio, Rancher, and related container orchestration technologies • On-premise infrastructure including VxRail, vSphere, and Cloudiant • Experience integrating cloud and on-prem identity and access systems using Okta. • Strong understanding of infrastructure automation, networking, and security best practices. • Excellent communication skills with a pragmatic, collaborative approach to leadership.Nice to Have • Experience in aerospace, defense, or satellite technology environments. • Familiarity with hybrid cloud strategies and edge computing. • Previous involvement in developer enablement or platform-as-a-product initiatives.BenefitsWhat We Offer • The opportunity to lead infrastructure in a cutting-edge space tech company. • Work with an international team of experts in Earth observation and software engineering. • A flat organization and flexible work culture. • Competitive compensation and stock options. • Modern tools, autonomy, and impact from day one.About the companyICEYE is building and operating its own commercial constellation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites with SAR data already available to customers.
