Information Security, Technology Undergraduate Summer Internship - New York

Join American Express Technology Risk & Information Security team for a 10-week summer internship focused on cybersecurity, risk management, and innovative security solutions. Your Role Here’s what you will be doing: • Assist with information security activities including security investigations, intelligence, assurance, and project oversight • Support Security Incident Response and Threat Intelligence by monitoring, detecting, and responding to security events globally • Drive risk reduction through vulnerability identification and remediation across infrastructure, applications, networks, cloud, and AI/ML security • Protect sensitive data via Data Loss Prevention monitoring and blocking where legally permissible • Contribute to Identity and Access Management by delivering authentication, authorization, and lifecycle management capabilities • Support Cryptography and Encryption Services to protect sensitive information and ensure regulatory compliance • Engage in Governance, Risk, and Compliance efforts to innovate risk management and extend control expertise across IT and business domains • Develop and implement advanced machine learning models for cyber threat detection and collaborate on Generative AI products for cybersecurity teams About You The company is looking for: • Bachelor’s degree candidates with expected graduation between December 2026 and June 2027 • Currently enrolled in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields preferred • Preferred education and/or experience in Cyber Security • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Knowledge or awareness of information security, compliance, assurance, and security standard processes and principles • Employment eligibility to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship provided) Compensation & Benefits • Hourly pay range: $24.05 to $63.00 plus sign-on bonus • Competitive base salaries • Flexible work arrangements including hybrid and virtual options with Amex Flex • Access to global on-site wellness centers staffed with nurses and doctors (location dependent) • Free and confidential counseling support through the Healthy Minds program • Benefits supporting physical, financial, and mental health Training & Development • Opportunities to learn new skills and develop as a leader • Career development and training programs Career Progression • Growth opportunities within Technology Risk & Information Security and broader American Express teams How to Apply Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
