Industrial Engineering Global Merchant & Network Services Internship - Phoenix
Join American Express as an Industrial Engineering Summer Intern to drive process improvements and support global merchant services in Phoenix, AZ.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
• Acting as internal business consultants to support acquisition, servicing, and operations business groups
• Collecting data, analyzing insights, and developing proposals and recommendations for leadership
• Deploying improvements to systems and processes
• Collaborating with Technologies, Finance, Risk, Operations, Marketing, Brand, external vendors, and other teams
• Supporting efforts to enable superior customer experiences and drive efficiencies while reducing costs
About You
The company is looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree candidates in Industrial, Manufacturing, Systems, or Operations Engineering, Informatics , Information Technology/Systems, Supply Chain Management, Engineering Management, Industrial Distribution, Business Data Analytics, Statistics with expected graduation between December 2026 and June 2027
• Ability to communicate clearly and consistently both orally and in writing
• Understanding of continuous process improvement and problem-solving methodologies
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and in teams
• Results-driven with ability to lead projects and initiatives to completion
• Proven ability to drive project implementation working with diverse customer groups
• Knowledge and exposure to common Industrial Engineering software such as Excel and SQL
• Knowledge, exposure, or expertise in multiple IE topics including continuous improvement, sophisticated problem solving, cost benefit analysis, lean Six Sigma, project management, statistics, operations research, forecasting, quality control/statistical process control, and process or value stream mapping
• Employment eligibility to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
Compensation & Benefits
• Hourly salary range: $24.05 to $63.00 plus sign-on bonus
