In-House Counsel – Mass Torts & Class Actions (Legal-Tech Client)

Remote Full-time
Our client is a profitable and fast-scaling legal-tech startup that uses AI and quant-style web scraping to identify mass-tort and class-action opportunities months ahead of the market. Their team combines legally trained professionals, data scientists, and engineers with one goal: to build the first AI-native referral law firm for complex litigation.

Led by a Cambridge Law graduate, the company seeks an experienced plaintiffs' attorney to lead early-stage case assessment and strategy in collaboration with an elite cross-functional team.

Key Responsibilities
• Turn recalls, complaints, and regulatory filings into actionable case screening rules
• Draft and maintain the Case Assessment Framework (elements, causation, scienter, damages)
• Analyze statutes, standing, venue, class viability, and limitations for flagged opportunities
• Review and improve AI-generated assessment memos and deliver go/no-go case briefs
• Track emerging consumer-product litigation trends and brief internal stakeholders

Ideal Candidate Profile
• 5+ years of experience evaluating consumer-product mass torts or class actions (plaintiff-side)
• Proven ability to spot viable litigation opportunities early
• Strong legal research and drafting skills
• Working knowledge of FDA, CPSC, FTC, and state consumer-protection laws
• Clear, concise communicator who works well with data and product teams

Additional Qualifications
• Interest in legal-tech, startups, or litigation finance
• Experience leading or coordinating class action teams
• Familiarity with AI/ML or e-discovery projects

Structure & Collaboration

This role reports to the CEO and Product Lead and works closely with internal engineers, data scientists, and external co-counsel.

Compensation: $100+/hour, commensurate with experience
