Job description: Position Summary

Skagit Valley College (SVC) Diesel Technology Program seeks a part-time Lab Aide (Lab Helper) to assist students with daily lab activities. This would be for a maximum of 14 hours per week, Monday - Thursday, typically 8:30 AM - noon. Actual hours could vary depending on the daily class schedule for the week. A successful applicant would start immediately.

Duties and Responsibilities


Monitor students for safe work habits.
Check out tools for students when needed.
Answer any technical questions students might have according to their level of expertise.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


A basic understanding of most diesel-industry systems is desirable for the purposes of monitoring students for safe working habits.
A basic knowledge of various tools used in the diesel industry.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


Prior diesel-industry shop experience.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including mobility in a shop environment.
Desired Qualifications:


Some teaching and/or mentoring experience.

Salary and Benefits:


The rate of pay is $25.00 per hour.
Eligibility for benefits is in compliance with state rules and regulations.
