Role Description
We’re looking for a Senior Director, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting to oversee all SEC reporting, resolve various complex technical accounting issues and act as a key resource for internal stakeholders. Reporting to the Controller, the role will be a key leadership position in the Finance organization, interacting and coordinating with colleagues in Finance & Strategy, Tax, Corporate Development and various other departments across the Company to ensure proper accounting treatment and accurate financial results.
What you’ll do:
• Provide leadership, support and professional development opportunities to the growing technical and reporting accounting team
• Manage the reporting and filing process for SEC Form 10-Q and 10-K, and other external reporting requirements
• Lead the technical accounting team in researching, communicating and resolving complex accounting matters. Provide technical accounting guidance to cross functional partners across finance and the company
• Lead all policy initiatives, including the implementation of new accounting standards. Ensure internal Robinhood accounting policies are maintained and up to date.
• Continuously monitor, document and communicate new accounting standards to the entire organization and determine their impact on the company
• Lead or support cross-functional strategic initiatives, including product launches, new revenue models, or structural reorganizations, ensuring accounting impacts are proactively addressed.
• Participate in audit committee meetings, including the presentation of required communications
• Organize and lead quarterly disclosure committee meetings
• Manage the relationship with external auditors. Act as the key point of contact between the auditors and internal finance teams.
• Support due diligence and the integration of M&A deals. Lead the purchase price and opening balance sheet accounting.
• Represent reporting and technical accounting in special projects such as finance transformation and automation initiatives
• Develop a culture of mentorship, continuous improvement, training and success in the accounting organization
Qualifications
• 15+ years of total experience with increasing levels of responsibility including people management
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills, high energy and initiative - with a proven ability to manage significant initiatives across the organization, as well as develop and motivate staff
• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
• Expert in technical accounting issues
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, excellent soft-skills, and ability to motivate and influence all levels of management
• Experience with M&A due diligence and purchase accounting preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or equivalent required

• Expected salary range for this role based on location:
• Zone 1 (Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; Washington, DC): $238,000 — $280,000 USD
• Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL): $209,000 — $246,000 USD
• Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL): $185,000 — $218,000 USD
