Role Description
Optical Training Institute (OTI) is hiring an Optical Learning Experience Designer to create training that drives skill development and measurable on-the-job performance for optical practices.
• Leverage OTI’s content library and author network to shape learning that is clear, concise, and job-realistic.
• Convert lessons into interactive practice (decision points, branching scenarios, troubleshooting flows, “what would you do next?” moments) built for mobile and short sessions.
• Write and record new multimedia content when technology changes or gaps emerge (short videos, webinars, podcasts, micro-lessons).
• Review content from authors and SMEs to maintain accuracy, consistency, and a strong instructional voice.
• Support learners and practice teams by answering content and course-experience questions and troubleshooting common issues.
Qualifications
• ABO Master or Advanced certification strongly preferred.
• Experience teaching optics at the college level or leading optical training in a professional role (or equivalent adult/professional education).
• Significant hands-on optical experience, including dispensing and practical application of optical concepts.
• Experience building and leading training programs (in an academic, retail, or multi-location environment).
• Strong writing skills with the ability to make complex topics clear, practical, and learner-friendly.
• Comfort working directly with customers/learners and handling a portion of customer support responsibilities.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to own outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
