This role offers a salary package of a competitive salary, commensurate with experience.   Job title: Special Education Teacher Consultant and Transition Coordinator Company: Fitzgerald Public Schools Job description : NOTICE OF OPENING: Special Education Teacher Consultant & Transition Coordinator LOCATION: Fitzgerald High School WORK YEAR: 2023-2024 School Year SALARY: Per FEA Contract QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required Special Education Endorsement in SM, SE, SA or SV preferred Eligible for or have Michigan Teacher Consultant approval required Master's Degree in related field required 3 years teaching experience; 3 years in Special Education required Experience working with diverse student populations Highly Effective Evaluation preferred Experience in a Leadership Role preferred Evidence of Exceptional Organization Skills required DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct career assessment and counseling and assist in career exploration activities Assist in work/job preparation training which may include job shadowing, onsite work training, work/study placement development Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities that is designed to meet their individual transition needs. Develop curriculum, design and implement lesson plans, and assess student progress. Disseminates information to staff, students, and parents regarding student needs, progress, and resources. Coordinates transition activities for college, career, and community readiness Manages IEPs for assigned caseload; coordinates and facilitates IEP meetings, writes IEPs, and communicates with general education teachers and support staff. Facilitates referral, applications, eligibility process for student and families to adult service providers. Assists with alignment of transition continuum of services at the secondary level. Maintain and grow strong public relations with community partners Monitor and provide professional development to staff on the MDEs B13 compliance Participate in professional development and implement best practice.
