Role Description
The Medical Records Specialist at Jazz Imaging plays a crucial role in managing and organizing patient information to support healthcare processes.
ā¢ Maintaining and updating patient records in both electronic and paper formats, including details about medical history, treatments, test results, and diagnoses.
ā¢ Accurately coding health information data for reimbursement and research, requiring understanding and leveraging coding conventions and medical terminologies.
ā¢ Completing high-volume data entry tasks while minimizing errors and maintaining high standards of data integrity.
ā¢ Aiding in the processing of medical claims by ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
ā¢ Ensuring patient confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
ā¢ Communicating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses or to obtain additional information.
ā¢ Performing regular audits and quality checks to validate the accuracy of records.
Qualifications
ā¢ An associate degree in health information technology or a related field is required.
ā¢ A bachelor's degree in the same areas is preferred.
ā¢ Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) would be an advantage.
ā¢ At least two years of work experience in healthcare information management or in a similar role.
ā¢ Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is essential.
ā¢ Excellent data entry and administrative skills paired with meticulous attention to detail.
ā¢ Proven experience with electronic health records (EHR) and other hospital information systems would be beneficial.
ā¢ Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with healthcare professionals.
