Role Description The Commercial Property Underwriter is a technical property consultant and provides guidance to improve underwriting skills across business units to help achieve growth and profitability. This subject matter expert will do market research, competitor analysis and develop products that will support Sentry's business strategy, to meet annual growth and profitability objectives within our commercial lines insurance operation. • Manage, develop, and grow a sizable and complex book of business through marketing, effective underwriting decision making, mutually beneficial agent/brokers and direct relationships, application of underwriting tools, systems, and expert resources under limited supervision. • Collaborate with sales and business unit underwriters to understand current products, market trends, and competitor’s products within a line of business in order to recommend and develop opportunities. • Guide/mentor less experienced underwriters in their respective area of expertise. • Participate in regular projects that further the goals of the company. • Participate in quality control audits and market conduct exams involving underwriting.
