HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (STORM WATER)
Position will be open until filled.
We are currently seeking:
A heavy equipment operator to join our team and perform skilled work in the operation of a variety of motorized equipment and heavy equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
ā¢ Performing skilled and semi-skilled construction, maintenance and road repair work; assisting in resurfacing, oiling, patching, sweeping, grading and shaping roads; digging and filling holes; clearing and repairing roadway, shoulders and adjoining areas; installing, cleaning, repairing and maintaining sewers, water pipes and hydrants; clearing trash, brush, weeds and debris from roadways, grounds and facilities.
ā¢ Operating a wide range of specialized vehicles and motorized equipment, including front-end loader, dump truck, bulldozer, grader, backhoe, tractor, street sweeper, oil distributor, spreader, scraper, roller, chipper, and water truck.
ā¢ Inspecting, cleaning and performing routine maintenance work on trucks and heavy equipment; identifying and reporting mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
ā¢ Operating power equipment and specialized trucks to transport trash, debris and biosolids.
ā¢ Hauling materials and transporting vehicles and equipment to job sites using various trucks.
ā¢ Loading and unloading materials using power equipment.
ā¢ Completing required daily logs and reports.
ā¢ Performing tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies; performing traffic control activities as needed; reporting safety hazards and traffic problems.
ā¢ Utilizing proper safety precautions in all work performed.
ā¢ Hours: Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm (30 minute lunch); overtime is required. This is an on-call position.
ā¢ Regular and timely attendance is required.

ā¢ Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
ā¢ Making routine operating adjustments and repairs to assigned equipment.
ā¢ Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Three years' experience operating specialized vehicles and heavy equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
ā¢ Must possess a valid eligible Texas Class A Commercial Driver License with a good driving record (additional compensation available for CDL A of $300/month); specific technical skills training and certifications may be required.
ā¢ Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
ā¢ Work is performed outdoors.
ā¢ Requires constant physical efforts, and ability to lift and carry up to 113 pounds.
