Job Title: Health Educator (Remote in Wisconsin) Cost Center: 301081064 Ctr For Community Health Adv Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Employee Type: Regular Work Shift: Mon-Fri; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (United States of America) Job Description: • *Must reside in Wisconsin. This position requires attending on-site trainings approximately five times a year.** JOB SUMMARY The Health Educator is responsible for promoting, maintaining, and improving individual and/or community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors that promote healthy living and prevent disease. This includes collecting and analyzing data to identify health needs, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating health education designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environments. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree in Community Health, Health Education, Wellness, Health Promotion, or a related field. Preferred/Optional: Master's degree in Community Health Education or Public Health. EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: Two years of health education experience. Experience with Microsoft Office products. Strong written and verbal skills. Preferred/Optional: Five plus years of health education experience. Knowledge of quality improvement and performance management processes. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position. Minimum Required: None. Preferred/Optional: Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). The Health Educator position requires someone passionate about both public health and national service to guide a team of AmeriCorps members who have committed to a year of service to improve community health. As part of the Marshfield Clinic Health System AmeriCorps Team, key qualities of a successful candidate include serving as a positive mentor and resource; keeping a diverse team connected and informed using a variety of communication channels and technology; strong facilitation skills; and aptitude for collecting data, accurate record keeping, and submitting timely reports. Daily duties are varied, challenging and rewarding. Ongoing training and support is provided.
