The Center for the Study of Organized Hate (CSOH) is seeking an experienced Grant Writer to support its fundraising and institutional development efforts. This role will focus on researching funding opportunities and developing high-quality grant proposals and donor narratives aligned with CSOH’s research on organized hate, extremism, digital harms, and human rights. The Grant Writer will work closely with CSOH’s leadership and research teams to translate complex research, data, and policy work into compelling proposals for foundations, institutional donors, and philanthropic partners. This is a part-time, contract position for an initial period of six months, with the possibility of conversion to a full‑time role based on performance and funding availability. Key Responsibilities • Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with CSOH’s mission, research agenda, and program priorities. • Draft, edit, and submit grant proposals, concept notes, and letters of inquiry to foundations and institutional donors. • Coordinate with internal teams to gather inputs, data, and supporting materials for proposals. • Support grant renewals, progress reports, and donor updates as needed. • Maintain and update a grants pipeline and submission tracker. • Ensure proposals are submitted accurately and on time, in compliance with funder guidelines. • Identify recurring funder requirements and contribute to the development and refinement of organizational boilerplate materials, including organizational summaries, impact statements, and standard narratives. Qualifications and Skills • Demonstrated experience in grant writing for nonprofits, research organizations, or human rights/policy organizations. • Experience with grants related to human rights, digital rights, extremism, or democracy (preferred but not required). • Proven track record of securing or contributing to successful grant applications. • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex research into clear and persuasive proposals. • Familiarity with philanthropic funding landscapes, including foundations and institutional donors. • Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate across teams in a remote environment. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Alignment with CSOH’s mission and values.
