Graduate Facade Engineer- New York (Summer 2026)

Buro Happold is looking for a passionate Graduate Facade Engineer professional in their New York office. The role involves designing building enclosure details, conducting structural and energy modeling, and ensuring the performance of facades through various engineering calculations and technical reviews. Responsibilities Carry out structural, thermal and energy modelling of building enclosure details and systems Utilize advanced analysis programs and techniques to understand building envelope performance and façade design Learn the principles of facade detailing and specifications Undertake engineering facades calculations with various materials, including structural glass, aluminum, stainless steel, wood, stone and precast concrete Perform technical reviews of shop drawings and construction administration submittals to ensure air, water, thermal, seismic, acoustic and structural performance Deliver work in a timely and technically competent manner Participate in site visits to projects and prepare site observation reports Skills Bachelor or Master's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related science discipline Coursework in façade materials and assemblies, façade engineering, building envelope physics, and/or thermal modeling skills beneficial 3D modeling skills (Rhino, Revit, Grasshopper, SketchUp, AutoCAD, etc) preferred Interest in the façade industry with emphasis on detailing and engineering Good sketching skills Internship experience in façade or engineering beneficial Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team 3D modeling skills (Rhino, Revit, Grasshopper, SketchUp, AutoCAD, etc) preferred Coursework in façade materials and assemblies, façade engineering, building envelope physics, and/or thermal modeling skills beneficial Internship experience in façade or engineering beneficial Benefits Generous benefits package Annual discretionary bonus Generous PTO (4 weeks) in addition to 10 paid holidays 401k with company match Hybrid working & summer hours Reimbursement for certain professional licenses and associated renewals and exam fees Connection to global network of experts on the forefront of industry initiatives Access to wide ranging learning and development opportunities Be a part of supporting our diverse company culture through open engagement with our Young Employees Forum, Diversity and Inclusion Forum, Buro Happold Women's Network, and/or our Black at Buro Happold Employee Resource Groups Company Overview Buro Happold is an international, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy.It was founded in 1976, and is headquartered in Bath, Bath and North East Somerset, GBR, with a workforce of 1001-5000 employees.
