ResponsibilitiesJob PurposePattern Energy is seeking a skilled and motivated Government Affairs Consultant to lead and support our Government Affairs efforts in the Eastern U.S. region, focusing on Texas, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Arkansas. The Government Affairs Consultant will work with internal SMEs to determine Patternâs policy positions and effectively advocate for those policy positions in the state houses across the Eastern US. The Government Affairs Consultant will be responsible for managing relationships with elected officials, managing a team of lobbyists throughout the region, representing Pattern on industry Boards and Associations, and developing a campaign-giving strategy, the Government Affairs Consultant will report to the Government Affairs Director.Key Responsibilities:1. Policy Strategy and AdvocacyWork with internal SMEs to develop, implement, and execute policy strategies to advance Pattern Energyâs interests in renewable energy within the designated states.Monitor and analyze state legislation, regulatory developments, and industry trends impacting renewable energy initiatives.Advocate for policies that support Pattern Energyâs projects by meeting with Legislators, Governors, Administration officials, Public Utility Commissioners, and other government officials.Effectively manage a team of lobbyists throughout the region to ensure maximum influence and representation in the states.Represent Pattern Energy on various state and regional trade association boards, providing thought leadership and advocating for Patternâs interests.2. Collaborative Leadership and Internal CoordinationOrganize and host regular calls with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) including development, public engagement, communications, origination, fundamentals and new markets, regulatory, legal, and environmental.Serve as the primary liaison for Patternâs policy activities in the Eastern region, facilitating communication and knowledge sharing across teams.Develop reports, presentations, white papers, and other materials as needed to inform internal commercial decisions. The Government Affairs Consultant will be a part of the External Affairs team and coordinate closely with other Government Affairs members, as well as the Public Engagement and Communications team.3.Political Giving StrategyDevelop a political giving strategy for high-priority statesManage political giving budgets and oversee contributions to state candidates, committees, and associations in line with Patternâs political giving policies.Support Pattern PAC effortsAttend political events including fundraisers, RGA/DGA, etcQualificationsQualifications:Education: Bachelorâs degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Environmental Science, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., Masterâs in Public Policy or Juris Doctor) preferred.Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or lobbying, preferably in the renewable energy sector.Skills:Strong knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes, particularly within the energy sector.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Ability to analyze complex policy issues and communicate findings clearly.Proven track record in managing lobbyists and/or external advocacy teams.Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Travel Requirements:Flexibility for periodic travel within the Eastern region, or to headquarters, as needed.The expected hourly pay range for this role is $70.00 to $90.00 USD.
