About the position

The General Office Clerk IV position at Public Health Tarrant County involves performing intermediate-level clerical duties to support the daily operations of the department. The role emphasizes a culturally sensitive and customer-focused experience for clients and visitors, with responsibilities including document processing, recordkeeping, and assisting with eligibility determinations. This position is grant-funded and requires effective communication skills, particularly in a bilingual Spanish/English context.

Responsibilities
• Perform intermediate-level clerical duties such as classifying, consolidating, summarizing, typing, notifying, sorting, filing, and distributing documents and information.

• Answer customer inquiries and schedule appointments via multi-line phones and personal contact.
,
• Perform detailed computerized entry and recordkeeping functions using various software systems, scanners, and standard office equipment.
,
• Develop, compile, and format various simple reports and correspondence as required.
,
• Assist Eligibility Specialists in determining and initial entry of basic Medicaid, insurance, and financial eligibility status of clients.
,
• Make copies and deliver/retrieve documents from other departments.
,
• File medical or non-medical chart information and collect charts for audits.
,
• Compile documentation forms for tracking client information and collect fees for services rendered.
,
• Record accounts receivables and finances, prepare deposits, and deliver to the Business Office.
,
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
,
• Two (2) full-time years of general clerical or customer service experience.
,
• Current and valid driver license.
,
• Effective communication skills to deal with the general public and external agencies.
,
• Ability to keyboard and use word processing and spreadsheet software.
,
• Ability to handle several tasks at once and work without constant supervision.
,
• Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.
