General Liability Attorney Rep Claims Specialist, Risk Mgmt Lakeland

Remote Full-time
About the position

In the Risk Management department at Publix, the General Liability Claims Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and adjudicating a variety of general liability claims. This position is primarily focused on analyzing low and mid-level bodily injury claims, ensuring that all claims are handled in accordance with company standards and industry best practices. The Claims Specialist is responsible for conducting thorough liability assessments for both non-litigated and attorney-represented customer claims, as well as handling specific events related to Fleet, CQA, QRE, and Crime and Casualty incidents. This role also involves the preliminary identification of subrogation opportunities, which is essential for effective claims management. The General Liability Claims Specialist works within a team of approximately 80 associates in the Customer Claims Unit (CCU) and the Represented Claims Unit (RCU). Reporting directly to a Represented Claims Supervisor and Manager, the Specialist is tasked with analyzing, investigating, and adjusting claims to reach resolutions. This includes evaluating potential risk transfer referrals and overseeing the administrative functions necessary for resolving claims against third parties. The role requires entering detailed claim information into the Risk Management claims system and ensuring compliance with federally mandated Medicare reporting on settled claims. Additionally, the Claims Specialist is responsible for developing action plans for managing litigated claims throughout the handling process and identifying liability claims that may necessitate special risk mitigation strategies. The position may also involve other responsibilities as assigned, making it a dynamic role within the organization.
