Gas Scheduling & Confirmations Analyst (hybrid)

This role involves efficiently nominating system supply gas, confirming transportation customer supply, and reconciling volumes of natural gas purchases, while collaborating within the team to optimize portfolio management.ResponsibilitiesIndependently nominates gas transportation on interstate pipelines and/or storage facilities in compliance with contract provisions, and the pipelines or storage operators’ tariff, confirms daily city-gate nominations for system supply, transportation customers, pool operators and Choice Suppliers and manages banks and balancing services to maintain balance of supply and demand, providing economic, reliable service to customers while optimizing the revenue and other related benefits derived from LDC incentive programsVerifies and balances nominations, storage inventories and pipeline imbalances for data accuracyPosts capacity releases on pipeline and storage websites associated with transportation and storage allocations to Choice/SCO Suppliers, asset management arrangements, and marketed capacity releaseSupports Gas Accountant during the monthly accounting closing by providing documentation on volume reconciliation and storage inventories timely and assist with reconciling discrepancies on monthly transportation or storage payable invoicesProvides monthly closing information to GTS Billing and/or NIPSCO Industrial Billing for use in billing GTS and Choice SuppliersAnalyzes available transportation and storage capacity and collaborates with Portfolio Managers/Gas Traders and Gas Control to determine and recommend cost-effective ways to utilize our assets on a daily basisMonitors pipeline electronic bulletin boards for critical information including operational restrictions and communicates pertinent information to Portfolio Managers/Traders, Planning and Gas ControlMaintains data and integrity of GasSource, Aviator, EASy and Energy Access Online (“EAO”), including system enhancementsInteracts with IT support teamsMaintains procedures for scheduling, confirmations, and capacity releasesCovers weekends and holidays on a rotating basisSupports functional consistency, process standardization and operational excellenceParticipates in non-recurring ad hoc projects as needed, other duties and responsibilities as assignedSkillsBachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or other business or quantitative discipline1-3 years Relevant work experienceStrong analytical and strategic-thinking/planning abilitiesProven ability to identify, create and implement new processes, or process improvementsStrong problem solving and decision making skillsStrong organizational/planning skillsProven ability to work across departments collaborativelyExcellent oral and written communication skillsProven ability to work independentlyProven ability to gain respect and trust from others, and build favorable business relationshipsProven track record of achieving resultsProven ability to pay close attention to detailsProven ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize workloadStrong sense of urgency, and ability to meet deadlinesRecognize strategic implications of problems and issuesSome travel may be requiredHigh accountability for job performance and accurate and timely workFrequent time may be required outside of traditional business hours/on-call rotationKnowledge of, and proven experience with nominationsKnowledge of Local Distribution Companies and pipeline tariffsCompany OverviewNiSource helps energize the lives of its nearly 4 million natural gas and electric customers across seven states.
