Position Summary:
Expand your major and principal giving fundraising experience and leadership abilities as the Assistant Athletic Director of Development for UCLA Athletics. Working in close partnership with the Executive Senior Associate Athletic Officer/Chief Development Officer, you will manage the UCLA Athletics major/principal gifts team and will provide oversight of the Wooden Athletic Fund annual giving program. You will develop and drive strategies to achieve fundraising goals with a focus on major gifts and an emphasis on principal gifts and will manage a portfolio of major/principal level donors and prospects. You will develop and build meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximize alignment with institutional strategic goals and philanthropic support for those goals. In this vital role, you will collaborate with DIA and campus wide leadership and head coaches to build compelling cases for support around transformational gifts and deepen relationships with leadership donors and prospects. In addition, you will lead a team of fundraising professionals, providing strategic leadership, mentorship, professional development efforts and accountability for fundraiser activity metrics. Minimum of seven years of experience and progressive responsibility as a professional development officer with a minimum of four years in collegiate athletics fundraising. (Required)
Progressively responsible experience in the design, implementation and management of complex development or comparable programs including the ability to envision and articulate future direction. (Required)
Experience/expertise in developing successful cultivation and solicitation strategies with demonstrated success soliciting/closing high-level major gifts and/or prior experience with solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity. (Required)
Proven management, administrative and supervisory experience with ability to lead high functioning teams that meet or exceed goals; demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, and contribute to the culture and model the values of UCLA. (Required)
Experience in the planning and execution of large scale campaigns. (Preferred)
Volunteer management experience. (Preferred)
Demonstrated knowledge of critical issues in collegiate athletics and familiarity with terminology associated with athletics, fundraising, and ticketing. (Required)
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of major gift fundraising and various planned giving mechanisms at a major research university of institution of equal complexity. (Required)
Strong communication skills to express orally and in writing the mission of the University, the fundraising goals of the campus and the agenda of the UCLA Intercollegiate Athletic Department. (Required)
Strong written communication skills and experience developing proposals and giving persuasive presentations. (Required)
Interpersonal skills to build relationships and work harmoniously with a wide variety of internal/external constituents. (Required)
Collaborative skills and experience engaging and bringing key stakeholders – athletic directors, chief executives, leadership volunteers, board members, coaches, etc. - into the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship process. (Required)
Impeccable integrity and discretion in dealing with donors and other stakeholders/constituents and in the handling and maintenance of confidential donor files/information. (Required)
Strong strategic thinking skills aligned with the ability to implement and follow through; ability to be proactive, work independently and accept responsibility; adept at establishing priorities and managing workflow to fulfill objectives and meet goals according to deadlines in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision. (Required)
Ability to adhere to and comply with NCAA, Big Ten and University rules and regulations; or equivalent compliance experience. (Required)

Master's Degree (Preferred)
