Job Description: The Software Engineer is responsible for building new features, enhancing existing functionality, and providing ongoing support for First Advantage’s fingerprinting and background screening products. Working within a high volume and security sensitive environment, the Software Engineer will participate in the full software development lifecycle, develop and integrate components into a fully functioning system, and contribute to software verification and automated quality assurance. The role includes maintaining documentation, supporting deployments, and applying industry standards, secure coding practices, and team defined processes. This role is suited for an engineer who is comfortable working with evolving requirements, curious about emerging technologies such as AI, and willing to research and learn independently when approaching complex or unfamiliar topics.Key Responsibilities:Assist in solutioning application enhancements by clarifying requirements, designing functionality, and evaluating technical optionsExtend and improve full stack systems by implementing enhancements, monitoring performance, and identifying improvement opportunitiesDevelop secure and maintainable code using C#, .NET, Razor Pages, RESTful APIs, and associated librariesValidate and troubleshoot RESTful services using Postman and other toolsetsCreate and update automated tests using Playwright and related frameworksWrite SQL queries, stored procedures, and data access logic using Microsoft SQL ServerContribute to secure and compliant cloud deployments using Azure services and standardized automation practicesManage and maintain source control and CI/CD pipelines through GitHub and GitHub ActionsSupport production releases and assist in diagnosing and resolving application issuesResearch new technologies, frameworks, and domain topics when handling open‑ended or complex requirementsParticipate in educational opportunities, professional development, and knowledge sharing with teammatesCollaborate effectively with cross‑functional teammates and communicate clearly across technical and non‑technical groupsRequired Qualifications:3–5 years hands‑on experience developing with C#/.NETExperience with Razor Pages or equivalent server‑rendered web frameworks3–5 years experience working with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL ServerDemonstrated competence with object‑oriented design, design patterns, and multi‑tiered architecturesExperience with RESTful API design, JSON, XML, and modern service communication standardsExposure to Azure cloud services or similar cloud platformsWorking knowledge of GitHub source control and CI/CD pipelines via GitHub ActionsExperience using Postman, Playwright, or equivalent tools for testing and validationAbility to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with a methodical approachComfortable working with incomplete or evolving requirements and conducting independent researchAI‑curious: open to using AI tools to enhance efficiency while maintaining independent problem‑solving skillsStrong communication and collaboration skills, with a professional and respectful approachPreferred Qualifications:Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., CosmosDB, MongoDB)Experience with MVC, MVVM, or similar architectural design patternsFamiliarity with Visual Studio, VS Code, and other modern development toolsetsWhy First Advantage is Your Next Big Career Move First Advantage is going through a technology transformation!
