As a Freelance Legal Translator, Transcriber, and Interpreter, you will play a critical role in providing language services to our clients, ensuring accurate and high-quality translations, transcriptions, and interpretations. Responsibilities As a Freelance Legal Translator, Transcriber, and Interpreter, your primary responsibilities will include: Providing accurate translations of documents involving law enforcement and legal subjects Transcribing audio files and translating them into the target language Communicating fluently in English orally and in writing Translating in accordance with designated style and quality standards Using domain-specific terminology Reviewing the quality of other translators' work as needed Interpreting accurately, while preserving the tone and register, and abiding by the code of ethics Requirements Basic Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must meet the following basic qualifications: Proficient in translating between English and a foreign language (one of the following languages: Belarusian, Cape Verdean, Catalan, Cebuano, Enping, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hausa, Hindko, Icelandic, Igbo, Indonesian, Japanese, Jamaican Patois, Haitian Creole, Kazakh, Khmer, Korean, Kurdish, Kyrgyz, Lao, Malayalam, Montenegrin, Nepali, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Samoan, Sindhi, Somali, Spanish, Sudanese, Swahili, Taishanese, Tajik, Tigrinya, Thai, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uzbek, Western Punjabi, Yiddish, or Yoruba) Proficient in interpreting between English and a foreign language Experience in audio transcription Experience as a professional translator, editor, transcriber, interpreter, journalist, writer, or legal professional Familiarity with legal terminology Willing to undergo a US government background check Proficient in Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications The following qualifications are preferred: Law degree, paralegal certificate, or court interpreting experience Experience with editing, audio transcription, or interpreting Security clearance Education A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required. Work Environment and Culture As a remote freelancer, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere. However, you may be required to work onsite in Washington, DC; New York City, NY; Miami, FL; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; or San Francisco, CA for interpreting assignments.
