Fractional Procurement Specialist/Manager

VirtueStaff is looking for a knowledgeable and strategic Fractional Procurement Specialist/Manager to oversee the procurement of production-related raw materials for our clients. This remote role will involve developing procurement strategies, negotiating with suppliers, and managing supply chain operations to ensure efficient production and optimal costs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement management and an analytical mindset for making data-driven decisions.ResponsibilitiesPlanning and forecasting material needs using production planning systemPurchasing raw materials: steel (especially 26 gauge galvanized G90), aluminum, copper, zinc, galvanized wire (10 million pounds/year), corrugate for boxes, metal/plastic banding, lumber, stainless steel (316L)Managing international suppliers (China, Vietnam)Handling tariff exemption applications with Commerce DepartmentObtaining and managing mill certifications for lot-to-lot traceabilityOptimizing purchasing strategies (master coil vs sheet purchasing)Managing vendor relationships across 4-5 steel suppliersUsing ERP system (Sage 300) and inventory management toolsDeveloping and managing vendor rating program using NetStock moduleSetting up KPIs for vendor evaluation (pricing, availability, on-time delivery)Generating RFQs and managing responsesForecasting relationships between finished goods and raw materialsRequirementsProven experience as a Procurement Specialist/Manager or in a similar role, particularly in raw materials procurementMetal procurement experience, ideally experience with MRP (Material Resource Planning) for production materialsStrong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management and rating systemsProficiency in Excel and Microsoft SuiteIdeally have experience using NetStock and Sage 300, but not requiredExcellent negotiation and communication skillsAnalytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-makingAbility to manage multiple suppliers and projects simultaneouslyAbility to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote settingBenefitsWork From HomePerformance BonusOriginally posted on Himalayas
