The Role We are seeking an experienced Financial Director to take ownership of our finance function, managing our outsourced provider while shaping long-term financial strategy. The ideal candidate will bring proven a strong FP&A background, M&A expertise, and the ability to act as a trusted partner to the leadership team and Board. Experience across both UK and US financial environments is essential, with the capability to oversee compliance, reporting, and investor relations across jurisdictions. This role suits an analytical and commercially minded leader who can operate both strategically and hands-on in a high-growth setting. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership: Oversee financial strategy, planning, and decision-making to support business growth and long-term value creation. Finance Department Oversight: Manage the relationship with the outsourced finance provider, ensuring quality, accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of deliverables (accounting, payroll, reporting, etc.). Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Drive budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and performance tracking. Deliver actionable insights to the leadership team and Board. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Lead all financial aspects of acquisitions and investments. Provide strategic analysis, due diligence oversight, valuation, and deal structuring. Risk & Compliance: Ensure strong governance, internal controls, and compliance with both UK and US accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements. Stakeholder Management: Act as the key financial partner to the CEO, leadership team, Board, and investors. Provide clear communication of financial performance and strategy. Cash Flow & Capital Management: Oversee working capital, liquidity, funding needs, and capital structure. Ensure the business is well-positioned for growth and resilience. Team & Function Development: Build and manage an internal finance capability over time, mentoring junior staff or managing future in-house hires. Key Attributes & Experience Strategic Finance Leadership: Experience at Director or senior finance leadership level, ideally within a high-growth or entrepreneurial business environment. Finance Department Oversight: Prior responsibility for managing outsourced finance providers or hybrid finance functions. FP&A Background: Strong capability in budgeting, forecasting, and delivering strategic insights for business decision-making. M&A Expertise: Proven track record in leading and executing M&A deals, including due diligence and post-merger integration. Cross-Border Finance Experience: Direct exposure to both UK and US financial operations (tax, reporting, compliance, and investor relations). Experience managing cross-jurisdictional finance issues is essential. Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of accounting standards, corporate finance, and financial modelling. Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional communication skills, with experience presenting at Board level and managing investor relations. Change Leadership: Ability to scale financial processes and systems in line with rapid business growth. Professional Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA preferred (but not essential if experience demonstrates equivalent capability). Personal Attributes: Commercially minded, detail-oriented, pragmatic, and collaborative, with the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on.
