The Facilities Maintenance Technician delivers on our Purpose by supporting the Facilities Maintenance Team in providing repairs and preventative maintenance services for Southwest Facilities and equipment, general systems maintenance, and repairs and modifications. This role also ensures the facilities are operating in their most efficient and effective manner, and they'll serve as a liaison between Technology groups. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is excited to support our People, champion continuous improvement, and help to pilot the future of Southwest Airlines. ResponsibilitiesPerforms on-call repairs and preventive maintenance of SWA facilities and equipment (excluding station ground equipment, computer terminals, etc.) as assigned by the Employee's LeadersResponsible for keeping the workshops and tools clean and organized, maintaining inventory control, and performing other duties as requiredPerforms light construction duties, including drywall, acoustical ceiling, tape, bed, texture and paintingWorks with the Team to ensure all repairs are performed and requests responded to in a professional and timely manner; and process daily work order requestsAssists in scheduling contractors and performing work so as to have the least impact on our Customers' daily operationsPerforms routine, systematic inspections, including functionality and condition of mechanical and electrical rooms, restrooms, public areas, roofs, exterior finishes, sidewalks, holdrooms, potable water cabinets, stairwells, and parking areas (where applicable)Provides facilities maintenance services supporting Southwest's transportation operations located in various facilitiesAssists in the preparation of the facility for extreme weather conditionsMust be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this descriptionMay perform other job duties as directed by Employee's LeadersKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust be able to work well with others as part of a TeamMust possess Leadership skills to direct maximum performance from outside contractors, and maintain working relationships with Internal CustomersMust be a Servant LeaderMust have good written and verbal communication skillsMust possess good organizational and prioritization skillsMust be able to obtain and carry a cell phoneEducationRequired: High School Diploma or GEDExperienceRequired: knowledge of applicable construction and building repair fundamentals, including electrical and mechanical repair gained through trade school courses, training programs, or on-the-job experiencePreferred: 3 Years of experience with basic construction/facility repair experiencePreferred: Experience in plumbing, HVAC and electricalLicensing/CertificationMust have a valid driver's licenseMust be able to obtain a SIDA (Secured Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirementsPhysical AbilitiesMust be able to lift and/or move items of 75 pounds or more on a regular basisAbility to work outdoors in various weather conditions as necessaryMust be able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl and stoop on a regular basisOther QualificationsMust maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelinesMust be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986Must be at least 18 years of ageMust be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelinesExtensive Travel Required*Pay amount does not guarantee employment for any particular period of time.**401(k) match contributions are subject to Retirement Savings Plan vesting scheduleand applicable IRS limits***ProfitSharing contributions are subject to Retirement Savings Plan vesting scheduleand are made at the discretion of the CompanyPay Rate:$29.50Southwest Airlines is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Please print/save this job description because it won't be available after you apply.
