By fueling creativity, innovation, and progress within our teams, our products and services are designed for people to be fearless, to be changemakers.What the role involves:As the External Communications Strategist, you will be responsible for supporting the development of the organization’s external communications strategy, with a focus on shaping and managing editorial direction. This role plays a key part in enhancing the visibility and impact of the organization’s narrative through thoughtful storytelling, strategic planning, and coordinated execution.Reporting to the External Communications Leader, the Communications Strategist will collaborate with teams across social media, digital marketing, events, product, and research to identify, curate, and distribute content aligned with the organization’s mission to transform global financial and digital systems. The role requires a blend of strategic thinking, content development expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure consistent and effective messaging across all external channels.Content editorial development Lead the creation of high-quality content, including blog posts, thought leadership articles, social media copy, paid content, videos, web copy, and beyond in support of broader communications strategies Craft compelling, on-brand copy for a variety of platforms, including press releases, media statements, the company’s newsroom, blog posts, etc. Maintain and manage editorial calendars, ensuring timely and relevant communications across channels In close collaboration with the Social Media team, develop clear, engaging content for social media channels, tailoring messaging for platform-specific audiences Collaborate with External Communications Leader to craft specific content for executives, elevating their personal brand in support of positioning IO as a strategic thought leader in emergent technologies Identify key audiences we should be speaking to and define messaging for each audience In partnership with External Communications Leader, develop a content and email marketing strategy to drive traffic to IO’s website, increase newsletter sign-ups, and maintain engagement with existing audiences, while expanding into new audiencesExecutive thought leadership events Help illustrate key representatives as thought leaders through speaking engagements, podcasts, webinars, and other high-visibility opportunities Support in the planning and execution of key events by partnering with internal stakeholders to develop compelling communications materials (talking points, event content, presentations, press releases, briefing documents, etc.) to help maximize brand awarenessAnalytics reporting Set and track metrics to assess effectiveness of IO’s communications Monitor and analyze web and email metrics to enhance traffic and participation in virtual platforms Regularly report on results and make data-driven recommendations for improvementTeam operations Serve as the second in command of the communications function, with the expectation of operating as the main point of contact when External Communications Leader is out of the office or not available Manage timelines and delivery of projects RequirementsWho you are:Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in communications, with at least 4 years of prior experience in the financial or Web3 industries Expertise in brand positioning, narrative development, and strategic communications planning Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories and thought leadership content Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related fieldsFamiliarity working in a distributed team experience, while collaborating across verticals to produce exceptional resultsUnderstanding of social media platforms (Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.) and how each platform can be leveraged to deliver against company goalsDemonstrated success in planning and implementing communication strategiesPossess an entrepreneurial attitude and a genuine passion for the Web3 spaceAn understanding of communication trends in the technology or venture capital sectorAdaptable and open - unafraid to take on new challengesCuriosity learning mindsetDrive, self-relianceDelivery focused - turn abstract concepts into measurable resultsPersuasive - skilled in lobbying and driving consensusA team player, skilled in collaborating with internal stakeholders to achieve shared goals Pragmatic with a can-do mentality and a growth mindset; adept at finding creative solutions to thorny community challengesWell-organized and effective time manager, methodical in approachAre you an IOGer?Do you find yourself questioning the status quo?
