Job Overview We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic World Language Teacher who is certified to teach Italian and Spanish. As a Foreign Language Teacher at Stamford High School, you will play a crucial role in shaping the minds of our students and helping them develop a deeper understanding of different cultures and languages. This is an immediate opening, and we are looking for a candidate who can start as soon as possible. Key Responsibilities Demonstrate facility in the skills of reading, writing, and mathematics, and show a strong command of the subject area(s) to be taught. Plan and implement engaging instruction to achieve selected objectives, including those tailored for exceptional students. Effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative learning environment. Help students develop positive self-concepts and facilitate their independence as learners. Organize time, space, materials, and equipment effectively to create a productive learning environment. Assess student needs and progress, and adjust instruction accordingly. Meet professional responsibilities, including continuing growth and development. Foster cooperative involvement with parents and the community to support student learning. Utilize technology, such as Operating Systems, Office suites, Presentation Software, Spreadsheets, and Student Information Systems, to enhance instruction. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must have: A valid Connecticut teacher certificate in Foreign Language(s), specifically in Italian and/or Spanish (020-Italian, 7-12; 023-Spanish, 7-12). Demonstrated excellence in teaching the subject area(s) and/or instructional levels targeted. Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, and educational assistants. Superior communication skills (oral and written). Knowledge of or ability to learn and implement various educational technologies. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates who: Are dually certified in TESOL, Bilingual Education, or ESL. Have experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English. Possess a strong background in using technology to support instruction. Compensation and Benefits We offer a competitive compensation package, with a daily rate of $155 for certified candidates and $105 per day for non-certified candidates for the first 30 days, increasing to $155 per day thereafter.
