We're now seeking an experienced Wellness Coach III to join our team and help us drive positive change. About the Role As a Wellness Coach III, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our members in achieving their wellness goals. You will work closely with members who have been exercising regularly for six months or longer, as well as those who are new to exercise or have been inactive for a while. Using our proprietary coaching protocol, THE COACH APPROACH®, you will build personalized relationships with members, providing guidance, motivation, and support to help them achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities Carry out daily program tasks related to the Wellness Coach III role, including coaching members, promoting wellness programs, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. Stay up-to-date on current issues and trends in wellness, and participate in ongoing training and education to enhance your skills and knowledge. Promote, monitor, and evaluate wellness programs to ensure they are running smoothly and effectively. Attend required staff meetings and trainings, including facility or equipment orientations. Assist as needed in all aspects of the YMCA and its community, including participating in wellness cabinet activities and reporting incident/accident paperwork. Maintain a minimum caseload of active members in THE COACH APPROACH® Program, with a focus on delivering exceptional coaching and support. Adhere to strength training and nutrition guidelines in alignment with Y-USA/ACE and ACSM guidelines. Refrain from diagnosing injuries, offering medical advice, and dispensing or endorsing commercial health products. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in exercise science, physical education, exercise psychology, behavioral science, or a health-related field (preferred). A current National Personal Training certification from a recognized certifying body (e.g., ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NASM, NSCA). At least 18 years of age. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong customer service skills and a personal commitment to service and hospitality. Knowledge of general weight-lifting and health/wellness concepts, as well as the ability to demonstrate use of wellness-related equipment. Visual and cognitive abilities to utilize computer-based and written materials to administer job-related responsibilities. Preferred Qualifications In addition to the essential qualifications, we are looking for candidates with: At least six months of experience in a Wellness Coach-Level III position. Current Basic Life Support/AED and Emergency O-2 Administration certifications. Working knowledge of computers, including MS Word, MS Excel, and database management. Work Environment This is a remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. As a Wellness Coach III, you will be expected to be available to work at least two, four-hour shifts per week, with up to 50% of this time potentially involving teaching classes listed on the Group Exercise schedule.
