Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Virtual On Demand Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in a remote capacity. This is a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative model with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff who care for hospital medicine patients. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physician and in association with the PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinator to plan, implement, and evaluate medical and nursing care. Key Responsibilities Provide primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, and teaching of residents and medical students Develop and implement patient education and discharge planning programs Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care Utilize approved medical practices and protocols to deliver patient care Provide education experiences to patient families, staff, and other health professionals Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, including respect for privacy and communication style Remain knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess the following essential qualifications: Master's degree in Nursing (NP) or Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences (PA) Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice (NP) or License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice (PA) Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified (NP) NCCPA Certified (PA) Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: 3 years' related working experience Previous experience working in a hospital or clinical setting Strong computer skills and proficiency with Windows-style applications and various software packages Effective verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment Skills and Competencies The successful candidate will possess the following skills and competencies: Strong clinical skills and knowledge of medical practices and protocols Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Career Growth Opportunities Ochsner Health is committed to providing opportunities for career growth and development.
