About Hero Journey Club We're a forward-thinking organization that provides community-based mental health support within virtual gathering spaces. Our innovative approach involves hosting weekly group sessions inside video games like Minecraft, facilitated by credentialed facilitators. By meeting our members where they already spend time, we're able to address loneliness and mental health concerns in a unique and effective way. Scope of Role and Responsibilities As a Journey Guide (Educator), you'll be responsible for leading online mental wellbeing and socioemotional learning (SEL) classes and activities for groups of 8-10 individuals. These sessions will take place inside Minecraft and will focus on fostering group cohesion, creating a safe and productive environment, and helping members develop essential skills and strategies for addressing their mental health needs. Your key responsibilities will include: Leading group sessions and activities, with a focus on socioemotional learning and mental wellbeing. Fostering a sense of community and connection among group members. Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that promotes learning and growth. Collaborating with our team to develop and refine our curriculum and programs. Providing feedback and support to group members, helping them to achieve their goals and develop their skills. Requirements and Qualifications To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess a unique blend of skills, experience, and qualifications. These include: A Master's Degree in Teaching or Education, with a focus on adolescents and/or teens. Minimum 6 months of recent teaching experience in a virtual classroom environment. A teacher license or be license-eligible. Current experience teaching 5th to 12th graders, preferably 5th to 8th. Experience leading groups in an educational environment. Familiarity with neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ communities. Current experience playing Minecraft. A high-speed internet connection, a private workspace for confidentiality, and a laptop or monitor suitable for running our class platform. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications and experience will be highly valued: Experience with virtual care and digital platforms. Experience teaching during the pandemic. A strong interest in video gaming.
