Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, aligned with the school's curriculum and standards Manage classroom behavior and create a positive, inclusive learning environment Communicate effectively with school staff, administrators, and parents Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills Be available to take on assignments on a flexible schedule, including day-to-day and long-term placements Essential Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits NJ Substitute Credential Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this) Full COVID-19 vaccination Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor A passion for education and putting students first An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role Special education experience or certification Subject-specific expertise (e.g., Math, Science, English, etc.) Experience working with diverse student populations and age groups (Kinder, Early Years, Elementary, Middle, High School) What We Offer Competitive pay rates: up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term placements Weekly pay: get paid for your work on a timely basis W-2 employment: no fussing with taxes or benefits administration $0 onboarding costs: we reimburse you for expenses related to state background checks Referral incentives: earn $100 gift cards when you refer friends to sub with Scoot Ongoing support: 1:1 check-ins, online training, and a dedicated Scoot consultant to support your subbing journey Free online training: covering trauma-informed teaching, classroom management, and more Career Growth Opportunities At Scoot Education, we're committed to helping our educators grow and develop in their careers.
