About the Role As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. We're looking for educators who are not only qualified but also driven by a passion for teaching and a commitment to putting students first. Our substitutes are the backbone of our operation, and we're committed to providing you with the support, tools, and competitive compensation you need to excel. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher Follow lesson plans and engage students in meaningful learning activities Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment Communicate effectively with school staff, teachers, and administrators Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your teaching skills Be available for long-term or day-to-day assignments, depending on your preference and availability Essential Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits NJ Substitute Credential Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor Background check and TB risk assessment (Scoot will cover the cost) Full COVID-19 vaccination A passion for education and a commitment to putting students first Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role Special education or subject-specific expertise (e.g., Math, Science, ELA) Experience working with diverse student populations and age groups (Kinder, Elementary, Middle, High School) Skills and Competencies To succeed as a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll need: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adapt to new classroom environments and teaching styles Strong classroom management and organizational skills Empathetic nature and a growth mindset Proficiency in trauma-informed teaching and classroom management (our free online training will help you develop these skills) What We Offer At Scoot Education, we're committed to supporting our substitutes every step of the way.
