Experienced Staff Accountant for Remote Work Environment - Exception Transaction Processing and Reconciliation Expert

We're expanding our team and looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our remote workforce. About the Role As a Staff Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial transactions and data exchange with partners. You will work closely with our Director – Central Processing to identify and resolve exception transactions, reconcile our operating system with various internal and external platforms, and test new software enhancements. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your accounting expertise, analytical skills, and attention to detail in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Daily review of retail partner accounting transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness Drafting correcting entries for accounting to ensure all jobs are accounted for correctly and affiliates are paid the correct amount Review and process daily API exceptions to retail partners, ensuring timely and accurate resolution Troubleshooting exceptions outside of normal process flow, collaborating with various departments as needed Daily reconciliations of transactions between our operating system and those transmitted to affiliate contractors and retail partners Researching reconciling items to determine root cause and submitting development tickets to fix root issues in our operating system Testing accounting and payment-related system development enhancements to ensure seamless integration Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you should possess: A Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting or a related field Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with the ability to adapt to various software packages 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, banking, finance, or accounting roles, with a strong understanding of financial transactions and accounting principles A professional demeanor, with sound judgment and strong problem-solving abilities Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines A positive attitude, with the ability to adapt to change easily and work independently in a remote environment Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications can enhance your candidacy: Experience with accounting software and systems, such as financial management platforms or ERP systems Knowledge of API integrations and data exchange protocols Familiarity with software development life cycles and testing methodologies Certifications such as QuickBooks Certified User or Xero Certified Advisor Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you should possess: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various departments and stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with ability to adapt to various software packages Ability to work independently in a remote environment, with self-motivation and discipline Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At IME, we're committed to helping our team members grow and develop their skills.
