Key Responsibilities: Making a Positive Impact as a Special Education Substitute Teacher Teach with Precision and Care: Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, ensuring continuity and quality in student learning. Subject and Grade-Specific Instruction: Instruct based on the curriculum for the specific subject and grade level, adapting your teaching to meet the diverse needs of students. Monitor and Assess Student Progress: Keep track of student achievements and outcomes, providing valuable feedback to the regular teacher. Effective Classroom and Behavior Management: Exercise your skills in managing classroom dynamics and student behavior, creating a supportive and productive learning environment. Coaching and Support: Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students, contributing to the overall quality of education. Essential Qualifications: Your Path to Success as a Special Education Substitute Teacher To excel in this role, you'll need: Active Teaching License: Hold a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s). Substitute Authorization: Either have or be in the process of obtaining a Substitute Authorization if your teaching license is expired. Professional References: Provide three references, including one from a previous direct supervisor. Background Checks: Complete a Background Check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck) and for the Colorado Department of Education (for Substitute Authorization).
