Job Overview and Responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive the technical path and function roadmap of large-scale cloud structures, serve as a technical lead, and contribute to the development of our software applications. Your key responsibilities will include: Driving the technical direction and function roadmap of large-scale cloud structures Serving as a technical lead, contributing to and directing the efforts of development teams, including internal and external team members Determining operational feasibility by comparing analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions Driving clear definitions of feature requirements through discussions with product managers and customers Supporting continuous development by investigating options and new technologies Preparing and installing solutions by identifying and designing system specifications, standards, and programming Evaluating code to ensure that it is valid, well-structured, meets business standards, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems Mentoring Software Engineers to enable skill/knowledge development through advice, coaching, and education opportunities Updating job knowledge by reading current development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations May perform other job responsibilities as directed by Employee Leaders Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills: Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, principles, and technologies obtained through formal education and/or work experience Proactively shares knowledge and skills of software development and testing to solve a variety of problems Advanced knowledge of at least one required programming language Excellent partnering, communication, negotiation skills, and execution in working with various Technology or partner Teams Ability to articulate (verbally/visually) ideas, approaches, concepts, options, risks, impacts, and present guidance to technical, non-technical, and Leadership audiences Ability to lead multiple assignments, whether administrative or project-related, while maintaining a successful stage completion in all responsible work Ability to mentor others Ability to lead ideating, presentations, mentoring, and organization-thinking sessions Ability to influence without authority Preferred Qualifications and Education While not required, the following preferred qualifications and education will be considered an asset: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent formal education Advanced-level experience, pro, and specialized knowledge in software development and methodologies Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Southwest Airlines, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
